Meanwhile, Jesse sat in the nearby bleachers, his arms casually rested on his knees. He blankly stared ahead, but his ears were perked on Ryciera and Jake's nearby conversation. Every now-and-then, a bit of his trained blankness would fade into a slight smirk, or a confused blink, but he mainly kept to himself.

Jake shrugged and lent against a nearby wall. "So what if they are?" he half laughed, "Most of them are all mouth. And if not, all you need is a good insult and they're bound to leave you alone. Most bullies are scared of confidence. Be confident." He gave her a friendly smile, but then frowned when he heard a boy had been picking on her. "And that Damien kid sounds like an ass. If you see him, tell me. I'll sort him for you."

Ryciera blinked, wondering why he was so confident. Had he been bullied before? Maybe this was his way of repent for some unknown memory long ago. Maybe he was secretly, and mentally, rebelling against his past. Ryciera glanced up at him, trying to understand him. He was so... casual... and it confused her. How could someone be so laid back when the government was gone and pillage wracked their hometown, and their island? There had to be some reason. She listened with merely one ear, until the name Damien was mentioned. She blinked, a bit astounded by his abrupt language, "Uhm..." She fumbled, confounded, "Oh... I dunno. I guess he is a... yeah..." She was always trained, since birth, not to use language. She didn't understand why, but it had become a habit since, "An ass." She muttered thoughtfully, and a little shamefully. She continued thinking about how laid back he was, until, unintentionally, she blurted, "Why are you so laid back?" She blushed almost as soon as the words exited her mouth.

Jake sighed and ran a hand through his black hair, so his fringe flopped down to cover one eye. "Any guy who picks on a girl, deserves a punch in the face and a kick in the crotch. It's no way to treat a lady," he smiled, shoving his hands in his pockets.
He saw her mind ticking away, and he could not help but smile. A lot of people looked like this after talking to Jake. He could seem a little too casual, especially after taking into consideration their position. Her question came as no surprise to him. He had been half expecting it. "Because what's the point in not being laid-back?" he chuckled.

((My friend thinks Jake is cute *gestures to siggy* Lol!)) Ryciera returned the meek smile, not quite as confident as his. She nodded, "No way to treat anybody." She said, fumbling with her own fingers. She looked down at them, then at her apparel. She wore a brown shirt, that was far too long for her, and a pair of baggy blue jeans. Did bullies target people who didn't look pretty? She reached up and fumbled her reddish brownish hair, blinking and scrutinizing it. Soon, her stare returned to Jake, and she responded, "One needs to be careful. I try to live life carefully, so I could... you know... survive it." She turned herback to Jake, his easy life suddenly making her furious. She quickly tucked her hair back behind her ear and began to run off, only to be tripped when passing Jesse. She blinked up at him, but quickly scrambled to her feet again and shot away. She could hear Jesse snickering as she left. ((Jesse is me other charrie. So I'm not powerplaying. XD))

Jake frowned as she ran off. He felt bad, as he knew it was probably something he said. It was easy to tell that this girl had not had the most easy life, and maybe she had either gotten jealous or angry at the fact Jake found life easy. In all honesty, yes he did find it easy, but that was only because he knew he did not care if he lived or died, was happy or sad, healthy or hurt. He didn't care anymore, that was why he was so confident. Feeling bad, he got up, and went after her, stopping to aim a punch at the kid that tripped her up.

((Lol! I'll tell her!)) Jesse raised his arm to defend the punch, then cursed in annoyance. He quickly rolled up his sleeve, frowning at the large purple bruise on his arm, then stood. This Jake kid was much bigger than him. He calculated his chances of winning a fight, and soon realized that the odds were against him. Uttering another curse, he turned and started toward the locker room to wet the bruise, or something along those lines.

Ryciera shot toward the exit in a blitz. She didn't want to see anybody, nor did she want anyone noticing her. She looked up from the ground to see Sarah smirking rudely at her as she passed ((also my charrie.)). Ryciera's frown deepened, and she ran faster, almost tripping on her own feet, until she was out in the hallway. She slammed the door behind her, then, frantically, took a few steps toward the girl's bathroom. She paused, remembering Hannah Jameson, who did have access to that once-was sanctuary. She glanced up-and-down the empty hallway, trying to think. Maybe the Janitor's Closet, or the... uh... the basement, if it was unlocked. Seemed as if there was nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, so she turned and stepped back into the gym.

Jake laughed at the kid who he had just punched, as the boy stood up and decided to not take Jake on. Sighing, he ran after Ryciera. He felt really bad, and that whatever he said, he must apologize for it. If there was one thing he hated more then anything, it was when boys made young girls cry, and when he himself did this, he did anything in his power to make things right. When she stopped running, he almost ran right into her. He did in fact bump into her, but quickly grabbed hold of her shoulders incase he would knock her over. Realising that she was in fact a bully victim, and might take this as a threat, he let go, but only after making sure she was steady on her feet. "Look, whatever I said, I'm sorry," he smiled, "Really really sorry..."

Ryciera looked up in surprise. The tears splashed into her hair. She blushed, then quickly dried her face and looked back up, frowning, "It's not what you said." She whispered, "It's what you may have implied." She couldn't explain it. She wanted to be alone. She wanted to find a sanctuary away from the bullies... away from Edward Quent and his family, and away from anyone else who could interrupt her life. She wanted a break from civilization. She just wanted to be alone, so she quietly asked, "Uhm... w-where is a s-" She stopped mid-sentence, remembering, The Forest! The bamboo would hide her well. She turned away from Jake again and stumbled rapidly out the gym doors.
